Mk IX Wing Co. 'Jack' Charles, RAF Biggin Hill - 1000th kill |
Aviation
Archive - 90 Years
of the Royal Air Force. This is the first
Spitfire produced by Corgi after the Hornby takeover. As it turns
out, the model is a pretty standard Corgi Mk IX, and almost identical
to the Johnny Johnson Legends Mk IX.
However, the box has changed a bit, with removal of the troublesome
(to me, at least) sleeve, and the addition of a larger photo of the
model on the side panel of the box, which makes it nice for finding
a particular model on the shelf (you can look for the picture instead
of having to read the labels).
One point about the model: there are still plenty of paint blows around
the roundels; curiously, the blows are shown on the cover photo in
pretty much the same places they show up on the model! How very odd!! |
