Hurricane Mk I, F/O William "Willie" McKnight, RCAF, 242
Sqn., 1940 |
Aviation
Archive. Aces of
the Commonwealth. This is my favorite Corgi
Hurricane. I bought a copy when it originally came out in 2005, but
someone at the factory had retouched the black paint under the wing,
and the touch-up paint fell off in strips. So, when original copies
became available again this year, I bought a new one and gave the
old one away.
The camo colors, including the two-tone belly, the light green tail
stripe and prop, the yellow roundel surrounds, and the red muzzle
covers, are my favorite things about this model.
Wouldn't it be interesting to have one of each of this squadron's
flight-line Hurricanes for a particular day in 1940? Maybe if Corgi
runs out of ideas for selling these Mark I's, they might try just
such a gimmick to squeeze a few more sales out of this excellent mold... |
