Archive. World War II: Attack
by Night. These were my first comments
about this model in January 2006:
"Simple but effective Spitfire with an excellent
paint job. The landing gear fits very well in the down position.
The prop spins freely, but is a little loose. The canopy had an
errant 1/2 inch smear of black paint from the windshield frame
back. I scraped it off, but the effort left a scratch on the canopy."
If produced now in 2011, I suppose this model would be considered a disaster. However, it was manufactured in 2004, and seemed acceptable at the time. Now, with high volume diecast producers turning out scads of models in every conceivable scale, this model wouldn't even make it out the door. As a consequence, it is still available from online vendors in original boxes, and I suppose each vendor is looking forward to the day the model can be labeled a classic and pushed out the door at a respectable price. Personally, I enjoy these now quaint original Corgi models; they are still my favorite diecast collectables. |
