Messerschmitt Bf 109E, II./JG 53, Uffz Hohenseldt |
Aviation Archive.
Battle of Britain twin
pack. Again, this BoB set was produced
for the British market in 2000, and again, this 109E is unusual in having an ill-fitted and
ill-painted cowling. Usually, in the first years of
Corgi diecast models, the manufacturing quality was pretty good,
and declined in the middle years around 2005 to 2007 or so. I could
tell bone-chilling stories...but then, I guess I have.
Despite occasional production flaws and
release goofs caused by lazy engineering, Corgi's versions of
the Bf 109E and Fw 190A were excellent for their time, and still hold
up pretty well (which can't be said of their original Spitfire); this
can be attested by the continuing introduction of new versions out
of the old mold. That being said, it would be nice to see new and
improved molds for both models, in the line of Corgi's new Spitfire
I. Yum-yum, what a treat that would be! |
