A nicely done model and a welcome addition to Corgi's excellent twins
collection. Oddly, due to the many cavities in the forward fuselage,
the model is a bit on the light-weight side. Also, the wing is constructed
of both plastic and metal, and the plastic leading edge on my copy
was a bit loose.
Who ever designed the landing gear attachments did a masterful job;
both the landing gear doors and main gear went on without trimming,
and stayed in place without the usual tacky clay. Whoever you are,
thank you, and pass on this endorsement if they refuse your next raise!
Photo note.
There is one picture in this update showing three Gemini
Aces-like lawn-gnome-piloted Witty Fw 190's with the Do 17Z. To
take the picture with all props turning I had to use two hair dryers.
Since most of us still come equipped with only two arms, this wasn't
easy. At first I tried holding a hair dryer in each hand while pressing
the remote control with my teeth, but that didn't work because teeth
don't feel and I couldn't tell when the button was pressed. Then I
tried holding both hair dryers in one hand while pressing the remote
with the other, which necessitated maneuvering the nozzles of the
dryers in two different directions to blow air over all the props,
making sure the Do 17Z got more attention than the other models because
those props kept sticking. After all that, the result was kinda hokey. |
