P-47D Thunderbolt, Col. Dave Schilling, CO 56th FG, Boxted

Aviation Archive collection. Very fine, well painted model, and the landing gear fits perfectly.

Battle of the Stand. I was afraid this very heavy model would fall off its very inadequate stand. The plane kept tilting farther and farther forward on the stand, so I cut off the old mounting collar and created a new collar using some bits and pieces from around the house.

P-47D Thunderbolt, Miss Mary Lou, 19th FS, Saipan Marianas, July 1944

Aviation Archive collection. Excellent model, though probably not the most attractive color scheme. Well worth getting.

One of the really nice things about this model is the new, neat, and necessary heavy-duty made-just-for-Thunderbolts stand. Thank you, Corgi!

F4U-1 Corsair, White 1 "Daphne C", VMF-213, Capt. James N. Cupp

Aviation Archive collection. Darker medium blue color not quite as attractive as AA33008 on the previous page, but still a very good, well constructed model, and well worth getting.

P-47D Thunderbolt, White 11, Capt. Herschel H. Green, 317th FS, Celone, Italy, 1944

Aviation Archive collection. Very good reproduction, excellent paint job.

Picture imperfect. This one was tough to photograph because of the shiny paint job. Pilots in the ETO were known to have their mounts waxed to get a little more speed out of them. I had three photo sessions with this one and am still not satisfied.
