Corsair (BuNo 57803) of Lt Cdr Roger Hedrick, VF-84, USS Bunker Hill,
February 1945 |
Aviation
Archive. World War II
Collection 1939-1945, Dioramas. Another model I made the mistake
of buying just days before it went on sale for about 40% less. With
so many models I've already purchased being cut, cut, cut in price,
it seems ridiculous to buy a model that might go on sale in a few
weeks or even months. With U.S. incomes that have stagnated for the
last couple decades, with jobs harder to come by, and with prices
for autos and houses still high when compared to wage levels, I wonder
how long prices for diecast can continue to stay relatively high,
or how long the market can continue to support the proliferation of
model makers, no matter the level of prices.
Anyway, this is an okay model. It really isn't worth the original
price, and I bought it in a lull between new releases to keep up my
Corsair collection. The only Corgi Corsair I don't have is the French
version. Maybe IT will go on sale...though, of course, they never
do if you really want them, right?
Buy the way, the new Corgi catalog for fall 2010 through spring 2011
looks very exciting, which makes the decision to limit (mostly) my
collecting to that brand seem better all the time. The old bugaboos
of lack of money and lack of space dictated cutting back, and Corgi's
quality models combined with a slow release rate just seems the right
fit. |
