2002 release. This mold is excellent, and in many ways is better than
the Corgi 1/72 version of the same plane. Not having landing gear
on the Matchbox version is a drawback, though the pilot and cowling
are both excellent (and the cowling doesn't have the permanently open
cooling vanes of the Corgi version). Note that Matchbox was painting
props in 2002, something Corgi didn't do until three or four years
later. Whoever attached the spare tank on this F4U got it a bit off;
check the larger picture below. One nice touch is the silver-painted
pushrod tubes on the engine. |
