| Collectibles,
2001 release. This first-year Matchbox release is a bit of a disappointment
because of poor assembly and paint quality. The wing leading edges
between the engine booms and the fuselage aren't finished, being just
flat surfaces. The paint covers numerous small sand-grain sized bumps.
One wing-tip trailing edge was ground-down unevenly. The fuselage
paint is grainy and unconvincing. On the good side, the pilot is (as
usual) excellent, and the general form of the model (dihedral, wing
shape, boom shape, canopy) are most excellent. However, I wonder if
the general sloppiness of the assembly and finish wasn't due to first-year
manufacturing problems. This is the first Matchbox I've seen with
the defects found on this model. |
